St. Jude Medical Center is one of Taller San Jose's earliest supporters. The company has sponsored Light up a Life since the first gala in 1997. In 2011, they, along with other sponsors, donors, and, attendees, helped raise a record $515,000 in net income for Taller San Jose's 15th Annual Light up a Life Gala.

Their affliate company, St. Jude Heritage Healthcare, regulalry accepts Taller San Jose's medical students as externs, and has hired them too.

When Fanibel (pictured right) and her classmates completed 16 weeks of medical training at Taller San Jose, they advanced to 4 week externships at various Orange County clinics. Fanibel and the three other students pictured here all went to St. Jude Heritage group.

“Mentoring Taller San Jose students is rewarding and impactful,” says Thea Harries, RN, BSN, Director of Clinical Nursing Services. “They are dedicated to learning, respectful of other people and compassionate in their care of the patients. Their spirit to better themselves rejuvenates our staff’s focus on what it means to care for others.”

This externship gave us lots of real-world experience; I'm always busy and learning something new," say's Fanibel. “They also encourage us to continue our education.” Upon graduation, Fanibel plans to find work as a medical assistant and begin nursing school.

From generously sponsoring Light up a Life, to hiring Taller San Jose graduates, St. Jude Medical Center has had a lasting impact on the young people of Taller San Jose.
